Owning a car is a dream shared by many across the country but choosing the right vehicle that is both versatile and practical to suit your needs has become very difficult today with so many available options. If you are looking to upgrade or get a new family car, a compact SUV may work great for you. But why settle for a compact SUV when you can get a luxury compact SUV.
The
Lincoln Corsair and the Acura RDX are some of the most popular vehicles
in the class. They both have a stylish, elegant design that integrates
well with the upscale interior that is laced with a wide range of
comfort and convenience features.
Performance
The Lincoln Corsair is available with either of the two available powertrains. That is either the base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower or the more potent 2.3-liter engine that puts out an impressive 295 horsepower. The latter delivers more than ample power for quick acceleration in most situations.
Both engines are paired with a swift-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The Acura RDX draws its power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to generate 272 horsepower.
The Corsair earns EPA ratings of 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway, with the standard front-wheel-drive setup. The all-wheel-drive setup reduces these figures to 21 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, which is quite impressive for a luxury compact SUV. The Acura RDX gets an EPA-estimated 22/28 MPG city/highway, which is also above standard for a car in the class.
In terms of fuel economy and raw power, the Lincoln Corsair edges out the competition.
Interior Space
The solid build of the Corsair allows ample space for roomy, quiet interiors and a beyond average cargo space. The five-seater SUV features comfortable, supportive seats for occupants, while still providing ample head- and legroom. The Corsair offers 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk and 57.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, allowing more space to haul more substantial items.
The RDX also seats five and comes with an attractive cabin featuring lots of soft-touch materials. The vehicle offers 29.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear-row seats and 58.9 cubic feet with seats folded.
The Lincoln Corsair, however, offers more comfortable seating that comes in handy over long drives and for tall passengers.
Safety and Technology
The Corsair comes fitted with a user-friendly top-of-the-range SYNC 3 infotainment system. The SUV comes standard with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a premium ten-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. Other additional available features include a 14-speaker Revel Stereo, panoramic roof, 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, a household-style power outlet, and wireless device charging.
The Acura RDX houses a 10.2-inch infotainment system with a touchpad controller at the bottom of the center console. It comes as standard with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Wi-Fi hotspot, Siri Eyes Free, a nine-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth®.
Like most vehicles across the class, the Corsair is well equipped with a wide assortment of safety features that earn it remarkable safety ratings from the IIHS‡ and NHTSA.* It comes standard with:Â
- Pre-Collision Warning
- Blind-Spot Monitoring
- Lane-Keeping Assist
- Automatic High-Beam Headlights
- Pedestrian Detection
- Automatic Emergency Braking
The available upgraded Lincoln Co-Pilot360â„¢ plus adds adaptive cruise control, steering assist, front parking sensors, surround-view parking camera, and speed-limit sign recognition, amongst other convenience features that help amp up the driver's confidence on the road.
